We sometimes agonize over decisions we have made or are about to make.
Some people find that task so difficult that they make no decisions at all. We all need wisdom and understanding in order to make wise choices, but we are limited in so many ways from knowing everything that would help us make the absolute best decision. Absolute certainty is a moment that never arrives. We can lay the best plans and unseen events can arise and change everything. Jesus told of a man who laid wonderful plans for things in this life, but was not rich toward God. His soul was required of him that night (Luke 12:16-21 [16] And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:
[17] And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?
[18] And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.
[19] And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.
[20] But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?
[21] So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.
See All...). There is great truth in that parable.
So what to do? Why, go ahead and gather all the information you can. Weigh the pros and cons and then make your decision. Make it as wisely as possible because absolute certainty does not exist for us in the flesh. It is in using our minds wisely and then adjusting when we need to within our plans that we grow into the character that pleases God. Never fear failure, but be ready to get up and try again. That is how we learn and develop character.
Oh one of them is that I have been carrying unfinished plan of not completing my bachelor degree in college. Today I fear failure so much that I never want to make the same mistake or any mistakes. It is all excuses to fill that other holes in my head. I imagine a big one like seeking God help to become his follower but that is another gigantic big decision to make and I am always afraid I will fail, so I just don't do or ask anything. Call me a coward. You know I can't even make any wise decision.
Dear Joe,
Read the Parable of the Talents (Matt. 25:14-30) to understand God's will for us.
God will "never leave you, nor forsake you" (Heb. 13:5). Put your trust in God and He will guide you in making wise decisions.
In regards to mistakes - look at all the mistakes that were made by God's people in the Bible. Mistakes are inevitable and provide us with real learning.
God bless.
