Some think that being able to do whatever their heart desires is happiness. That is a misconception that is guaranteed to bring sorrow in the future. The real key to happiness is not so much in doing what you like, but it in liking what you do. Liking what we do brings results that are measureable by the response we have from others and by the respect we develop for ourselves.

That which we want to do is not always wise or what others consider to be normal. Some like to gamble, some like to drink, some smoke. Those may be things people like to do, but it often hurts others as well as the self. Liking what we allow ourselves to do involves the feelings of our family and friends. It moves us from selfishness to selflessness. Leave serving the self alone and do that which serves others, and you will be serving yourself. Paul's knew this (Romans 7:23-25). He learned that with God's Word to guide and help, we can become new.
