When two people sit down and discuss a subject and each is able to clearly express the reason that they believe as they do - we can call that reasoning.

The Bible lets us know that confiding or trusting in an unfaithful man is like a bad tooth or foot out of joint (Proverbs 25:19Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint. See All...).
If we are completely honest with ourselves, we would know that our "new ideas" are really ideas that have grown out of other thoughts or even ideas that we have had in the past.
