A verse in Isaiah gives us the solution to not being weighed down by all that life can throw at us.

Transcript

[Steve Myers] No doubt we live in a stress-filled world. Oftentimes, the weight of what seems to be the world weighs on us, and we're faced with so many different challenges that just seem to try to drag us down. Well, there's a passage I think we can keep in mind, that can help us turn the corner when we feel that weight. It's over in the book of Isaiah. Isaiah 26:3 says something amazing. It says, "You will keep Him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you, because He trusts you." That may seem pretty simple. But what's interesting here is this word for peace. In fact, this word for perfect peace is just one word, one Hebrew word - "shalom." The word "shalom" is what's translated, "perfect peace." Other places, it's translated "peace" or "security." And what's interesting, it is such a big word with so much meaning. It can mean "tranquility." It can certainly mean "peace," but it means being complete. There's a completeness that we can have. There's a sense of rest, a sense of health that goes along with this word "shalom." So, no wonder they translated it "perfect peace."

But we know our life is turmoil at times. There's crazy things that are happening to us. We may be faced with so many trials, and so many difficulties. Now, this isn't saying God's going to keep us perfectly peaceful, that everything in our life is gonna be a piece of cake. That is not what this is saying. If we recognize what it says, it talks about our mind. We will have shalom, peace, perfect peace when our mind is focused on God's way. In other words, a perfect peace of mind. Now, situations and difficulties are still gonna be there. But it changes our perspective.

So, if you want a different perspective, keep Isaiah 26:3 in mind. God promises to keep us in a perfect peace of mind when we focus our mind on Him and His purpose, and His wonderful way.

That's BT Daily. We'll see you next time.
