God's care for us is total and He will never let us go.

Transcript

[Steve Myers] God's grip won't slip. A beautiful phrase that can give us some encouragement. And there are so many passages in the Bible that reflect that very thought. One of my favorite is found over in Hebrews 13. In Hebrews 13:5, it puts it this way. "He Himself has said," this is God speaking, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." And that's something we can really take confidence in.

Now, if we could read that in the original Greek, we could even be that much more confident and encouraged. Here is what it says in the original Greek. "Five times God wants to assure us that He is not going anywhere when it comes to holding onto us." If we were to read this literally, literally it would say something like, "I will not, nor could not, nor will not, neither will I not, not forsake you." So, that's the original Greek.

So, when we look at that, we recognize God's care isn't once in a while. It's not occasional. It's not sporadic. It's not something that's partial. God's care is absolutely total. It's total for us. So, He's saying, "Nothing can touch us. Nothing can harm us. Nothing can hurt us without going through God's hands." And so, can we take confidence in that? I think we can be so assured that God is not going anywhere because He loves us.

In fact, if we read this in the Amplified Version, it says this "I will never, under any circumstances, desert you, nor give you up, nor leave you without support, nor will I any degree leave you helpless. Nor will I forsake you, or let you down, or relax my hold on you. Assuredly not." I think that really gets the flavor of it. In fact, in the very next verse, "We can boldly say," it says, 'The Lord is my helper. I will not fear.'"

So, let's take confidence. We can have hope. We can have assurance. We can be encouraged. God's grip won't slip.

That's "BT Daily." We'll see you next time.
