Scientists are constantly tracking "space junk" as it circles the earth. There are lessons for Christians to be found in their vigilance.

Transcript

[Steve Myers] In tracking that orbital debris, that space junk, 23,000 objects the size of a softball or larger, is what the scientists are watching 24-7. It's not an occasional kind of thing they're keeping an eye on. They are tracking these things day in, day out, hour, after hour, after hour. And what a reminder for us when we connect that spiritually. We are told to watch. Watch. Especially watch, for the second coming of Christ. Christ is going to be returning, and we're told that throughout the Bible, throughout Matthew 24, it reminds us of that very thing.

In fact, Matthew 24:12, tells us that very fact. It says, that we are to watch. "Watch, because you do not know the day your Lord is coming." So, be on guard in other words. Watch out. Be spiritually ready is also another component. They track these objects so that they can do something about it, to try to avoid them, if there's going to be a collision. Well we know, Christ is gonna collide with this world, and He's going to come, and He is going to stamp out this culture, and these governments, and set up the kingdom of God. And we have to be spiritually ready for that. So we're told, be ready. Be awake. Watch out and beware.

Beautiful passage in Romans that is a great reminder of that very fact. Romans 13:11. And, this is the way The Message Translation uses this particular passage. It says this, "Make sure you don't get so absorbed and exhausted by taking care of your day-to-day obligations that you lose track of the time and doze off, oblivious to God." You see, we've got to keep tracking 24-7. It says, "The night is about over, dawn is about to break. Be up and awake to what God is doing! God is putting the finishing touches on the salvation work He began when we first believed." You can't afford to waste a minute. And so, we have to be constantly aware, constantly tracking the things that could disrupt us spiritually. So let's be sure we're wide awake spiritually, and we're tracking God's direction. And if we do that, we'll never leave His world.

That's "BT Daily." We'll see you next time.
