But without rain, there are no crops, no water to drink, no water for washing, and none of the lush greenery that we all admire. Trials and tests in our life are sometimes thought of as "rain." "Into each life some rain must fall" were the words of an old song. But that sort of rain produces good crops.

Paul said to glory in tribulations because they produce perseverance, character and hope (Romans 5:3-5). A rainbow is a beautiful thing as it reflects the rays of the sun, and so is a person who reflects the good virtues and character built by a challenging life. We need rain in order for the rainbow to be bright and beautiful.
