Those words may be taken in different ways, but the goal of a worthwhile life is to find something that is more important than life itself. People will die for their country, for a religious conviction, to save someone they love and perhaps for other noble reasons. A life that is content to be mired in mundane and meaningless activities is often a wasted life.

Paul explained that the goal of eternal life was worth dying for. The old man must die, and a new man begins (Colossians 3:1-4). It is much harder for the old man to die because it is a process of change and renewal. If we are not willing to lay down this life in order to follow Christ, we are not worthy of eternal life. That is the big goal we are to discover in this life. That is worth living for and dying for.
