Passover

Baptized members of the Church of God participate in the Passover service, examining their lives and growth over the past year before attending. This topical reading is a study aid in preparation for Passover. It would be helpful to read "The Passover: Why Did Jesus Christ Have to Die?" from our booklet God's Holy Day Plan: The Promise of Hope for All Mankind. For those of you who are baptized, it is, of course, also important during this period that, before you partake of the Passover, you do some serious personal Bible study in spiritually examining yourself (1 Corinthians 11:28; 2 Corinthians 13:5). Even if you are not yet a baptized member, you would still do well to focus on the profound meaning of this event and on your need to eventually participate in it. As we approach the Passover, let’s recall the zeal and joy with which Hezekiah and the people of Judah observed it, as recorded in 2 Chronicles 30.

Christ foreshadowed the Passover Exodus 12:1-14, Exodus 12:21-36, Exodus 12:43-49; Isaiah 52:13-15, Isaiah 53:1-12
Christ institutes the new Passover and dies later that day John 13:1-17; Matthew 26:26-30; Matthew 27:27-50; 1 Corinthians 11:17-34
Symbolism John 6:4, John 6:22-71; 1 Corinthians 10:14-22
