Council of Elders Meeting Report

Council chairman Robin Webber called the meeting to order at 4:15 p.m. EST after some technical difficulty. Bill Bradford delivered the opening prayer. Bob Berendt was able to log in five minutes later, providing more than enough for a quorum with 11 Council members present.

The first agenda item was to place newly seated Council member Roc Corbett on two or three Council committees. Mr. Corbett opted to serve on the Ethics Committee, Roles and Rules Committee and Strategic Planning and Finance Committee. Bob Berendt offered to switch to the Education Committee in order to make room for Mr. Corbett on the Roles and Rules Committee. Gary Antion moved to make the committee seating official. After seconding it was made official, and, via a roll-call ballot, it was approved unanimously.

Then next item on the agenda was to select a chairman for the Strategic Planning and Finance Committee, which Mr. Webber vacated when he was selected to serve as Council chairman. After brief discussion and balloting, Bill Bradford was chosen to serve as that committee’s new chairman. Since committee chairmen may only serve on a maximum of two committees, he opted to drop off the Media Committee.

After overcoming some minor technical challenges, Carmelo Anastasi was able to join the meeting in progress from his home in Italy.

Mr. Webber asked if there was any other business to consider before the Council switched to executive session. Since there was none, the Council went into executive session for the remainder of the meeting.
