Is Passover important for the Unbaptized?

As we approach the spring Holy Days, it's important to reflect on the deep meanings behind them and how they relate to our walk with God. Passover focuses on Christ’s sacrifice, which delivers us from the punishment for sin, and the Days of Unleavened Bread guide us toward living a sin-free life, just as Christ did. These days offer rich symbolism, encouraging us to reflect more deeply on our spiritual journey.

While these Holy Days, especially Passover, may seem tailored for baptized members, they are incredibly meaningful for everyone, including those who haven't yet been baptized. Passover reminds us of Jesus Christ’s sacrifice, through which we are forgiven and reconciled to God. It also celebrates the joy of salvation—the hope of eternal life in God's family. That hope is available to all of us, baptized or not, during this Holy Day season.

We encourage you to take this time to reflect on how these Holy Days can draw you closer to God and discover the personal meaning they hold for you on your journey of faith.

Walking in faith and fellowship,

Christian soldiers are armed with spiritual tools to do their job. God doesn’t leave us without defenses in our spiritual battle. He not only gives us tools to protect ourselves, He gives us an offensive weapon as well, His word. The word is described as the sword of the spirit in Ephesians 6:17—the climactic component of the Christian soldier’s ensemble.

Know Your Sword is a daily dose of God’s Word that will help you to learn His truths efficiently and from trusted expositors. Sign up for the weekday texts and prepare for the first installment of Know Your Sword!

The Meanings Behind the Spring Holy Days | United Church of God

Fred Reeves discusses how the spring Holy Days reveal the starting point of God's plan. The Passover focuses on Christ. The Night To Be Observed pictures coming out of sin. The Days of Unleavened Bread picture a sin-free life as Christ lived it. But there are a number of richer meanings to consider.
