Prayer Update: Atticus Jennings

Here is an update from Aaron and Autumn Jennings regarding Atticus.

Dear Brethren, Atticus’s surgery went as well as it possibly could’ve- much better than we anticipated. The spinal fluid leak was minimal so no lumbar drain was necessary. Praise God! He will stay in the hospital overnight and likely go home tomorrow. We are so thankful for your prayers. Love, The Jennings

A recent CT scan revealed that 4-year-old Atticus’s severe sleep apnea is caused by a rare neural tube defect (a nasopharyngeal encephalocele), where the lining of his brain is obstructing his airway. Fortunately, it contains no live brain tissue.

He is scheduled for surgery to repair the defect on June 29th at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital in Nashville. Surgeons hope this procedure will entirely cure his sleep apnea. Postoperative hospitalization is expected to last between one and seven days, depending on any spinal fluid (CSF) leakage.

Prayer Requests:

  - That the surgery goes perfectly and is completely curative.
  - That any CSF leak is minimal, leading to a short, smooth hospital stay.
  - That he experiences no long-term negative consequences.

With gratitude,
Aaron and Autumn Jennings (parents)
Dorene Eckman (great grandmother)
Wendy Englehardt (grand auntie)
Anthea Jennings (auntie)
