You’re invited to an incredible backpacking experience in the Emigrant Wilderness of California! Ages 18–32 — single and married are welcome!

This year, Challenger Sierra will be held from July 29–Aug 4, 2026. Come appreciate God’s creation, physically challenge yourself and participate in spiritual discussions with like-minded young adults!

What Is Provided?

• Permit
• Group gear (water filters, jet boils for hot water, first aid kits, satellite communications)
• Dinners (you pick your favorites)
• Tents
• Transportation to and from the airport.

How Do I Get There?

• Fly into Sacramento Airport (SMF) on Wednesday, July 28. Arrive before 4:00 p.m.
• Fly out after 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 4, or Wednesday, Aug. 5.
• Airbnb address will be made available for those driving.
• Transportation will be provided to/from the airport and the trailhead.

Application Phases

Phase 1

• Review and fill out the Regfox Form by May 9, 2026.

Phase 2

•  Zoom/Teams call to meet with the director, Scott McKeon, and learn about your interest in the program.
• Notification of Acceptances by June 2, 2026
• Fill out and email the Participant Waiver Form attached to the Challenger Health Form

Phase 3

Complete by June 22, 2026:

• Do a 30-minute run test and send it to Scott McKeon
• Complete and send the Challenger Health Form to Scott McKeon
• Complete the required reading after accepted
