Letter from Dan Preston – August 15, 2025

Greeting brethren and happy Sabbath!

So much to look forward to

It’s an exciting time of year for a lot of people. It’s back to school which means either kids or parents are really excited. I won’t speculate on who’s excited more, but I think we all know…

It’s also closing in on the start of the NFL season. I know that’s not a big deal for everyone, but for those who are on the countdown, it’s only two weeks away.

Last, and most certainly not least, the Feast of Tabernacles is just a little over seven weeks away. If you haven’t caught Feast Fever yet, I’m sure you will soon!

What do you look forward to the most about the Feast?

While we all keep the same Feast of Tabernacles, exactly how we keep it probably varies from person to person. For some, it might be preparing to get on a plane and fly to a far away destination. For others, it might mean driving a few hours from home. For others still, it means preparing to keep it at home.

Depending on your age, what you look forward to probably varies as well. For young children, it’s the thrill of a beach, swimming pool or perhaps amusement park. For teens, it’s the opportunity to meet other teens. For the older crowd, it means catching up with people you haven’t seen in quite some time. For all of us, it should mean receiving a spiritual ‘supercharge’ to help energize us and keep us sharply focused on the coming Kingdom of God.

How do you keep the Feast?

All those things above aside, consider that question from a newcomer’s perspective. How would you tell someone completely new to the faith about the Feast of Tabernacles? How would you tell them to keep it, and what exactly does it mean to ‘keep’ the Feast?

While you might fell like answering those questions would be no problem, tomorrow we’ll take a closer look and review what it is God expects from us in keeping the Feast. Not only might it help us better answer the questions if someone asks us, it’s good for us all to be reminded of exactly how we should keep the Feast of Tabernacles!
