Letter from Dan Preston – February 27, 2026

No Pin

Greetings all and Happy Sabbath! A quick note that the Ladies Dessert Bake-Off previously scheduled for next Sabbath in Charlotte has been postponed. Thus, next wee on the Sabbath of March 7th, we will have services in Charlotte at our regular time of 10:30 AM and Hickory at 2:30 PM. Columbia services will be at their regular time of 10:30 AM. We will have a potluck in all three congregations

What will happen next?

Things are moving in a fast pace in our world. It’s not just the drivers, the speed of business or the exponential growth of information. It’s world events. It’s future history foretold. It’s prophecy.

Russia and China jockeying for position. Unrest and tension in the US. Intense scrutiny of Israel and rumors of sacrifices being reinstituted. It all makes you have to stop and ask the age old question, “What’s going to happen next?”

Does anyone know?

A large portion of the Bible is dedicated to prophecy. Christ admonishes us to watch. But how can we know exactly what is going to happen? What if, in spite of intense study, we get the timing or players involved in events wrong?

The good news is that nowhere in the Bible are we admonished to ‘get prophecy right.’ We aren’t told we are being judged on if we understand who the King of the South is, or when and where Jacob’s trouble will occur. So, if God isn’t grading us on that, what does it matter?

Prophecy - it matters

Prophecy is very important to the disciples of Jesus Christ. But why it’s important is what’s key to understand. It’s not about if we get it right or not. It’s about how it makes us live, what we do with our lives an what understanding (or at least attempting to understand) prophecy can actually do for us.

In tomorrow’s message, we’ll look at five exciting reasons on why prophecy is worth studying and why it should be important to you!
