Greetings all and Happy Sabbath! Hope you are enjoying the much needed rain.

Wow, that could’ve been me!

We’ve all experienced it. Driving down the road, annoyed because we are running late and stuck in a traffic jam. “Why on earth couldn’t I have gotten out the door sooner?” we ask.

When we finally see the source of the backup, there’s a twisted up pile of metal and emergency crews everywhere. Sobered by the carnage, we stop and think, “Wow, had I left 10 minutes earlier, that could’ve been me!”

Protection, seen and unseen

Not everyone might experience a direct, supernatural intervention where God protects us, but we’ve all experienced the scene described above.  It has a way of making us realize just how much God looks out for us. 

And that’s an important thing to consider. Just because we don’t see a flashy miracle, or we weren’t there to see the Red Sea parted, it doesn’t mean God isn’t intervening on our behalf.

Why?

We could probably sit around after services tomorrow and swap stories about amazing moments in our lives when God protected us. But have you ever wondered why God spares us?

In tomorrow’s sermon, we’ll look at not just how God protects us, but some of the many reasons He protects us both as individually and collectively as His people.
