Letter from Dan Preston – June 12, 2026

Greetings all and Happy Sabbath!

Why?

It’s probably the single most common question we ask, particularly in regards to difficult situations. Why did this happen? Why would someone do that? Why would God let something so terrible happen?

Why is a fair question to ask. It’s how we learn. But sometimes, we don’t get an answer. What then?

The wrong question

If we can’t seem to get an answer to our ‘Why?’ question, then perhaps it’s time to consider a different question. Instead of asking God ‘Why?,’ perhaps it’s time to start asking, ‘What now?’

When we don’t get answers to life’s hard questions, we need to realize that perhaps is the answer to that particular question: there’s no answer right now.

A question for you

If that seems to be what has happened, and if changing the question still doesn’t bring an answer, then perhaps it time to just wait. Wait and see what God will do next.

In that quiet waiting, we ultimately come down to one question: Will I allow this trial, tragedy or whatever it might be to build my faith or erase it?

What will you choose?
