Letter from Dan Preston – May 8, 2026

No Pin

Greetings brethren and happy Sabbath! Just a reminder that tomorrow will be a busy day - we will have potluck and Sabbath School in all three congregations. In addition, we will be having Sermon discussion in Charlotte and Hickory.

Why Unity?

As you know, we recently covered the topic of unity in a sermon. Specifically, we talked about why unity is important. It creates peace, prosperity and most importantly - it’s what God wants.

In addition we, we talked about how unity starts small. We first start with our relationship with God, then spouses, family, etc. and build outward. We also noted that while we can’t always create unity, we can strive for peace

Unity - Pt 2

In part two of this sermon, we will look at some specific steps of things we can do in order to build unity. We’ll be following the example of the relationship between Jonathan and David which is found in the book of 1 Samuel.

Their relationship is quite an interesting one. As we’ll see, while they lived in similar times, they had very different upbringings. One thing they had in common was the potential to succeed Saul as king of Israel. While this might have created division for most people, it actually created unity for them.

Start small - End big!

While unity starts small, it is not destined to stay that way. In fact, God’s main goal is to create a unified family that will reside with him forever in the Kingdom of God.

In the mean time, let’s be about the job of creating unity with the closest to us, and peace with all!
