Letter from Dan Preston – November 28, 2025
Good evening brethren and happy Sabbath!
Stuffed?
I hope this letter finds you doing well and recovering from Thanksgiving. I did my best not to stuff my silly on Thursday. I think I did fairly well, although I did sneak off for a nap in the afternoon…
Aside from that, we had a fine time. We enjoyed a deep fried turkey and all of the usual fixings, plus what I personally believe is the best pecan pie I’ve made yet. On top of that, I got to watch the Bengals win!
Glad to do it - glad it’s over
As I said last week, Thanksgiving is by far my favorite secular holiday. We were happy to host it this year and I’m especially thankful for my wife who did a TON of work to make it happen.
That being said, I’m also glad it’s over. Getting the pies made, setting up the fryer, sharing kitchen space, the seemingly never-ending stream of dirty pots and pans that need to be washed so the next dish can be prepared - it’s a lot of pressure to get it all done.
How do you handle the pressure?
All of this work does make the holiday stressful. It’s worth it, mind you, but it is stressful. There’s pressure to make everyone’s favorite, get it all ready on time, keep everyone entertained and then clean up after everyone is gone.
This is just one day of the year. The truth is, we all face pressure in life from lots of different directions - school, work, socially, etc. If we’re not careful, the pressure can overwhelm us and bring things to a screeching halt.
While we can’t make all the pressures of life go away, there are a few things we can do to handle them. In tomorrow’s message, we’ll look at just a few practical tips that can help you handle all of life’s pressures!
