Letter from Dan Preston – October 31, 2025
Greetings brethren and happy Sabbath! Just a reminder that tomorrow is our potluck in all three congregations, as well as our post Feast social where we can share photos and tell everyone what made this Feast special for you.
What will it be like?
It’s pretty normal for people to wonder about their future, especially what it will be like. As a 3rd grader, you might wonder what it would be like to be a senior in high school. When in high school, you probably wondered what it would be like to be married. As an expecting parent, you might wonder what your child will look like. The list goes on and on…
Having just come back from the Feast of Tabernacles, I find myself wondering what the millennial reign of Jesus Christ on Earth will be like. I be you do too!
What we don’t know
Generally speaking, the man reason we wonder things is because we don’t know them. If you knew, you wouldn’t wonder, right? But since the Bible doesn’t give us a lot of specific details about the millennium, we are left to wonder what it will be like.
I have lots of things I wonder about. Where will I be ‘stationed,’ as it were. Will I be here in Charlotte, serving the local community I live in now? Will I go back to Ohio and serve there? Might I be sent to China to minister to humanity? Will we bounce back and forth all over the place? If I’m in China, can I instantaneously teleport back to the US any time I want to catch up with old friends? I have no idea, but it’s definitely something I wonder about.
What we do know
So what do we know? Well, we know that the firstfruits will change from mortal to immortal. We know that Satan will be out of the picture and we know that the knowledge of the Lord will cover the earth as the water covers the sea. In addition, we know we will be reigning and ruling with Christ, teaching humanity a better way to live. Beyond that, it gets pretty speculative, pretty quickly.
Of course, a little speculation is okay, healthy even. If God’s kingdom didn’t contain things that we wanted to learn more about, we might not desire it as much. By sharing just enough with us to get our imagination going, our Creator helps us anticipate His kingdom!
