Letter from Dan Preston – September 12, 2025
Greetings all and Happy Sabbath! Just a reminder for those in Columbia there will be a potluck tomorrow.
It’s almost here!
The Feast of Tabernacles is a little over three weeks away. While that is very exciting, as a Feast Coordinator, I have to tell you it’s also a little terrifying! Alas, many hands make light work and we’ve been blessed with a great deal of volunteers to help out in Hawaii this year.
Speaking of which…have you volunteered to help out at the Feast site you are attending this year? While some positions have already been filled, I PROMISE YOU, your Feast Coordinator would be glad to have a little more help in whatever area you could serve!
How to serve
There are dozens of areas to serve at the Feast. Ushering, Security, Greeting, Information Table, Mother’s Room, Parents Room, Youth Instruction, Audio/Video, Teen Activities, Church Dance, Transportation, Parking, you name it.
If you’ve never served in any of those areas, helping out at the Feast is a great place to learn. Chances are you’ll be paired up with someone who has done it before and has a lot of experience and wisdom to share.
It’s own reward
In Matthew 20:27-28 (NKJV), Jesus Christ said, “And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave— just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”
While it might be an old cliche, serving is truly its own reward. Whatever time and energy you might spend serving at the Feast will be well multiplied back to you. You’ll meet new people, learn new things, and grow in appreciation for those who serve you!
