Letter from Dan Preston – April 25, 2025
Greetings all and Happy Sabbath! Just a reminder we will have our Sermon Discussion after services in Columbia tomorrow.
Human Nature
It’s said that the hardest part of life is being human. Take that how you will, but to me it means dealing with our own human nature. Fighting off our carnal desires and trying to live more like God and Christ.
Paul talks about this classic struggle in Romans 7:15 (NKJV) “For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do.”
Bringing out the worst in us
We battle human nature a lot of ways, but one of the worst is when we’ve been wronged. Someone says or does something to slight us in some way and we get offended.
It’s easy to want to wrong someone back, maybe with a snarky comment or some petty action. In an extreme case, we might even harm them - physically or mentally. So what should we do when we are wronged? I’m glad you asked…
Dealing with it
The answer is simple - don’t be carnal, be spiritual. Allow yourself to be led by God’s Spirit. Of course, well all know that, but executing it is kinda hard sometimes!
Tomorrow I want to look at a few practical tips that can help us when we have been wronged. Until then, do your best to be patient with others and yourself as you deal with being a human!
