As we approach the Spring Holy Days, I want to talk to you about an emotion that can wound us deeply and leave lifelong scars. What’s worse, you may not even know you have it until the damage is already done. It sneaks up on you and masks itself as something else until it’s got you and then it’s a struggle to break free of it. What am I talking about? It’s resentment and it can happen to anyone. If we don’t recognize it early it will take root and try to weave itself into the fabric of our lives so if we know what’s good for us, we will take time now to try and identify it before becomes entrenched in our lives.
In this sermon series, we are exploring the process of becoming worthy to escape the tribulation that will someday come upon this world. While we know God is merciful and patient to bring many sons and daughters into His family, there will be a time when each person called must decide who and what manner a person they want to be. Each of these messages has as its goal, helping us to get a clear look into our hearts. God has built this world as a way of getting to know our hearts before we are given eternal life. We will not be given that life unless we build and maintain a relationship with God.
Only baptized members of the Body of Christ can take of the symbols of Passover which represents life everlasting. The commitment we make at baptism is to become disciples and followers of Jesus Christ which is a lifelong process. Today we will continue this series where we will explore what it means to disciple with other members of the body.
Knowing that Grace has been made available to us through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ is wonderful yet the question remains, how do we live each day of the rest of our lives? How is grace applied to our lives when we continue to stumble in life? This sermon will discuss how God intends for grace to work in the lives of imperfect people.
Law and Grace are talked about together because they balance each other out. If you study the subject, you will find that there is much disagreement as to where and how you balance that out. One fact that is not discussed much is why God waited till the time of Moses to write down His law, and why he waited another 1500 years before Jesus magnified that Law to give what was intended from the beginning. Understanding that will help you place the subject of Grace in a better perspective which will be covered in part 2.
Thanksgiving was intended to be more than an act, done once a year, but rather a way of thinking and living where God is recognized for what He has done for us in so many ways both seen and unseen. Today I would like to cover three aspects of thankfulness that if you can begin to master will have profound impacts on your life and your relationships with everyone. Gratitude or the state of being grateful or thankful is so important for the right relationship with God and with our neighbor. Without it, we get self-centeredness which leads to strife. Humility is so important to healthy Christian relationships and gratitude plays a huge part in helping us to remain humble because we are naturally focused on others and not ourselves.
Being a teachable person requires humility and selflessness but it will allow us to learn like never before and one day become a very effective teachers. We can learn to be teachable to follow God's Spirit to become like Jesus Christ our Teacher.
This message compares the state of the church of Ephesus written about in the book of Ephesians to the state of the church written about in Revelation 2.
When God chose us, He entered into a New Covenant with us. The New Covenant is a better covenant and has better promises. God also provides awesome and wonderful gifts to us under the better covenant. This message explores what a covenant is, why it's a better covenant with better promises and asks the question "are we living the New Covenant life?"
If the unleavened bread we eat each year, represents the new life we are starting living as one with Jesus Christ living in us, how does that life measure up year over year? Unleavened bread looks drastically different than leavened bread and not everyone appreciates it. When we truly learn to live an unleavened life those around us notice a change in us. So how much change is their in our lives each year as you look back on your spiritual growth? How does our Unleavened bread measure up? How can you measure it and what metric would you use? Today I am going to give you three ways to see how your unleavened bread measures up.
Our minds go to spiritual and physical preparations for the feasts throughout the year. Spiritually our minds first go to Passover and Atonement and Physically we think about Unleavened bread and preparing for the Feast of Tabernacles. But God created all of the season and wants us to be ready to get the most out of them spiritually.
God created man and woman with the purpose of becoming one as a physical representation of His spiritual template. God calls us in our physical state and uses marriage and family to teach us how to one day be a part of his spiritual family. Satan has opposed God's plan from the beginning and works to tear down what He designed. However, there are biblical examples that show us the best way to stand up for God's truth.
Those who cannot remember the past, are condemned to repeat it. The history of the church of God is marked by many splits and fractures going all the way back to the beginning. Its important for us to consider how the lack of unity has played a role in this state. God wants us to be one, just as He is One. We need to endeavor to maintain the unity of the spirit and the bond of peace at all times in our lives.
Most people don't know or care about the pagan origins of Christmas, Easter and other holidays and even when they are made aware, don't want to give them up. Why? Would knowing how God feels about these holidays change someone's mind? Can we really know what God thinks even though you cannot find the mention of Christmas or Easter in Scripture? You can know how God thinks about this topic and many more when you take the time to get to know Him. Lets take a look at what scripture reveals about God's true feelings about How to remember and Worship Him.
It is important that we take stock of what we believe and why. As we look at the darkness all around us does the truth still shine so brightly that we can recognize heresy. Or does the truth sound like an old record that you rarely make time to hear.
A faulty, worry and doubt prone human can effectively pray.
