Sabbath Bulletin May 10
Sabbath Bulletin May 10
Sabbath Thought Eccl. 10:16, “Woe to you, O land, when your king is a child, and your princes feast in the morning!” A modern version says, “A country is in trouble when its king is a youth and its leaders feast all night long.” Believer’s Commentary mentions, “Pity the land whose ruler is immature and impressionable like a child and whose legislators carouse in the morning instead of attending to their duties.” This is so typical nowadays, especially in “revolutions” where corrupt leaders take over, ransack the treasury and then splurge all the money carousing. --submitted by Mario Seiglie

PENTECOST SUNDAY, JUNE 1 - sign up if you want to enjoy a lunch buffet at the Embassy (deadline Thursday, May 22). Pentecost services will be held Sunday, June 1, at the Embassy Suites in Brea (900 East Birch St) where the Women’s Enrichment Weekend was held in January. We will be combining with the Los Angeles congregation. Services will be at 11 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Maps and directions are on our Information Table as well as on our church website.
Lunch possibilities: There are a number of wonderful restaurants within a mile of the Embassy Suites. A list with addresses and other details is on our Information Table and our church website. These restaurants include Stonefire Grill, Cheesecake Factory, Olive Garden, and others plus options in the Brea Mall Food Court (about a 5 minute walk away through JC Penney’s) with Panda Express, Chipotle Mexican Grill, a Mongolian BBQ grill, pizza, and other options. Alternatively, you can relax and stay in the beautiful Embassy atrium, fellowship with others and enjoy a delicious sandwich deli-style buffet lunch including an assortment of breads, meats, cheeses, condiments, two salads, assorted desserts and coffee, tea and iced tea.
This is the same lunch menu we enjoyed at the Women’s Weekend last January. We have guaranteed 30 lunches to get a reduced price for our meeting room rental. We are offering this onsite lunch opportunity at a subsidized price of $30 per person, taxes and tip included. The deadline for your reservation is Thursday, May 22, since we need to turn in a guaranteed number of meals in advance.
