The apostle Paul mentions three important facets of spiritual growth: faith, hope and love. And that we should be seeking those attributes of God. Discouragement is a part of this age but hope is an anchor that can keep us focused on God's purpose for mankind and the promise of God's coming Kingdom to this world.
Humanity is in need of many kinds of healing. Spiritual healing is the most universal healing that this world needs in order to be reconciled to God. Our most often requested need in this life is for physical healing. Our physical healing is done to cultivate a better relationship with God. Looking to His mercy, help and deliverance.
The topic of Grace is often misunderstood. Grace is an undeserved and unmerited pardon from God. Yet there is even more to the topic of grace. There is an obligation on our part. Law is necessary to define sin and it's consequences. Grace is necessary for sinners to be forgiven.
God gave us free will so we could choose but God wants us to choose His will for our lives. God ordered the people of Israel to choose but told them to choose life. Jesus sought His Father's will above His own life. That choice to serve God and be conformed to His will is going to have to be made by all of humanity before they can enter into eternal life. God is entrusting us to choose eternal life?
Simply believing in God and just reading the bible, by itself, does not reveal God's purpose for human existence. God's glory is described as God dwelling with His people Israel. Later God's glory came to the temple during Solomon's time. Today God's glory is reflected by His presence in the lives of His people. God's Plan is for his children to one day dwell in glory with Christ and the Father forever.
Revelation describes a global false religious system that will be extant just before Christ's return to earth. With widespread deception covering most of the earth at that time there will still be those who have proven themselves to be loyal to Jesus Christ. That group of people are designated in Revelation 17:14 as the called, the chosen and the faithful.
God considers that Israel is His nation. Anyone wanting to come to Him must be joined to Israel. All who have the Holy Spirit are now spiritual Israel. All those who were part of physical Israel will have their minds opened and be able to understand the fullness of what God has in store for them upon their resurrection as depicted by the Holy Days. All humans who ever lived will be able to have their opportunity in due course, each in their time.
It is important to know the history of Abraham and his descendants and where those people are today. This knowledge enables us to understand prophetic references regarding those people. Many prophecies about Israel today are referring to many more nations than just the single nation of Judah, commonly referred to as Israel today, located in the Middle East.
Israel had the very Creator as King over them until Israel wanted a man for a king instead. But God promised David that his throne would continue on through the ages up until the reign of Christ at His return. Even though the Kingdom of Israel was divided after Solomon's reign, God preserved the throne of David through the ages. The throne of David still exists on earth today. It is that throne that David, Jeremiah and Jesus referred to in scripture. The same throne that Christ will return to. David once again being raised up and appointed to rule over a restored and reunited Israel
God made a covenant with Abraham of blessings and greatness. That blessing was passed down to his lineage, through to Jacob and then to Jacob's sons. God used Joseph to rescue the nation of Israel. Jacob adopted Joseph's two sons into his own family and thus in to the lineage of the blessing. This blessing is the reason for the greatness, wealth and power of some major nations today. Why is this important to Christians and to Biblical prophecy?
The primary reminders from the conference was embodied by the three topics covered. Namely answering the question of "What is the big picture?", ie: What is God's Purpose in dealing with man?, Why do we exist? and What is your reason for living? secondly: the preaching of the gospel of the Kingdom of God, and thirdly the process of preparing a people. Also covered was the topic of the unfinished business of Israel.
Jesus gave Christian's advance warning of what they were to face after His departure and what Christian's are to face before His return. Jesus warned Christians that He was not a part of this age and neither would be His disciples. Not being of this world will eventually result in mistreatment of those who follow Christ. Jesus warned that persecution is a matter of this world not knowing who the Father is and the one that He sent.
To be victorious in our struggle against sin our focus must be on our savior Jesus Christ. Christ is pictured as the vine. We as the branches. The branches cannot bear fruit of themselves unless they abide in the vine. The fruit that Christian''s are expected to bear can only be done by abiding in the vine of Christ. Our Father is glorified as we bear fruit and strive to be His disciples.
Joe Dobson gives five points of guidance for a man who seeks to be a godly husband. The main focus is that the man's authority in the home is given to him by God and must reflect the love that Jesus shows to us all. When he does this, he will love, honour, nourish and cherish his wife.
People have speculated on the purpose of life. Many of those concepts are positive but they do not convey the truth of what Christ has revealed to His Church through the Holy Spirit. That purpose has been revealed to those that God has appointed to be heirs of salvation in ruling with Christ at His coming.
The Sabbath is a perfect time to align our thoughts with those of God. Joe Dobson makes use of Isaiah 58 to show the natural orientation of man is to be against God's ways. God calls us to seek His attitude and His mind. The natural mind is set on death and hostility. God's mind is focused on life and love.
God's blueprint for mankind is revealed through the biblical holy days. They picture a restoration to this earth of His rule and all things as He intended them to be.
Knowledge, wisdom, discernment and understanding are lacking in today's world even though God has made this available to us through His word.
There are many questions we may have about who responded to Jesus but those that did respond were ones who saw that they needed what He offered.
Jerusalem has been a city of contention for years over religion, peoples and nations with events that will lead up to Christ's return. The people of God must be alert and doing God's work before that day arrives.
