America: A Blessing for All Nations

From its founding in 1776, the United States of America would go on to become the greatest single country the world has ever known. No other nation in history has achieved the levels of prosperity and global influence the United States has attained.
There is a certain goodness in the American character that has led her to share her wealth and ideals for the benefit of the world. Indeed, she has committed many wrongs, but overall, the United States has become a blessing to humanity. She has backed up her commitment to liberty for the oppressed of this world with her blood. Evidence of that is the graves of tens of thousands of America’s sons in military cemeteries scattered around the globe.
Blessings on America promised long ago
Those who have eyes to see know where America’s blessings come from. They acknowledge God's providence in the founding and the unprecedented greatness of the United States of America. Long ago, God promised faithful Abraham that "in you, all the families of the earth shall be blessed" (Genesis 12:3). And Almighty God, who alone steers the course of human events, has been faithful to His word. He kept both the physical and spiritual elements of His promises to Abraham and his descendants.
God’s spiritual blessings far exceed the physical
America’s wealth and prosperity are great, but the fulfillment of God’s spiritual promises to Abraham is even greater. God blessed Abraham because he demonstrated unwavering faith in Him. He “believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness” (Romans 4:3). And now, those “who are of faith are sons of Abraham” (Galatians 3:7). These sons of Abraham, by faith, are the blessed recipients of “exceedingly great and precious promises” (2 Peter 1:4). They know the true God who made America great.
Trouble ahead for America
Yet, most Americans do not know Him. For this reason, America has become a "sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a brood of evildoers" (Isaiah 1:4). If she does not repent, God will not continue to bless her. Instead, she will undergo the "time of Jacob's trouble," the "great tribulation" that is coming upon the whole world (Jeremiah 30:7, Matthew 24:21).
God will yet bless her
Though America has lost its way, the world still benefits from God’s blessings upon her. He still allows the nation to live in relative peace, prosperity and freedom. One day, after her coming troubles, America will turn to God, as He had also promised. May God speed that day!
