A Bill of Goods

1 minute read time

While in Berlin today Paul Kieffer and I visited the Pergamon Museum. This famous museum has the Altar of Zeus from the ancient city of Pergamon, mentioned by the Apostle John in Revelation 2. There is also a reconstruction of the Ishtar Gate from  the city of Babylon.

But what caught our attention was a small cuneiform tablet, one you could hold in your hand, that had an amazing piece of information. It was a description of foodstuffs delivered to Judah's King Jehoachin held captive in Babylon. It clearly showed this king existed and was in captivity at the court of Nebuchadnezzar. Amazing. We would have passed it by without knowing what it said were it not for Herr Kieffer's abiliy to translate. We'll add this to what we have written on the subject in the Good News.
