Migrating geese in western Qinghai province have been discovered with the H5N1 avian flu virus. The fear is this virus mutating with a human virus and jumping unchecked into the human population. Over the weekend China ordered emergency nationwide measures to deal with a potential outbreak.

On Monday the World Health Organization adopted stronger measures to deal with flu pandemics. The new regulations will empower WHO to restrict world-wide travel and commerce to and from affected areas. They will also allow officials to demand more information from countries in case of an outbreak. The WHO can demand information from nations which have an outbreak.

Darris McNeely works at the United Church of God home office in Cincinnati, Ohio. He and his wife, Debbie, have served in the ministry for more than 43 years. They have two sons, who are both married, and four grandchildren. Darris is the Associate Media Producer for the Church. He also is a resident faculty member at the Ambassador Bible Center teaching Acts, Fundamentals of Belief and World News and Prophecy. He enjoys hunting, travel and reading and spending time with his grandchildren.
