In a recent issue of WNP we carried an article on the possibility of an electro magnetic pulse bomb being used against the United States by an enemy. This type bomb could wipe out all electronic infrastructure in one blow, rendering the nation without any electric power adn vulnerable to a complete breakdown of society as we know it today.

America, like all developed nations, is heavily dependent on its electrical grid to keep a comfortable well ordered society humming along each day. This includes the military which has also grown reliant on computers to wage war and carry out natinal defense.

Now comes a report on China's stated plans to develop the means to hack into military computers and create havoc with the systems. This strategic effort is called the David and Goliath effect. That is, the ploy of a weaker adversary to exploit the soft spot of the stronger. An article by Peter Brooks details plans for just such an attack by China.

Read this in light of the post last week about "Thinkiing Dark" and the need for keeping open a wide imagination when it comes to the dangers facing America's national defense.

Articles such as these show how America's position as the dominat global military power could suffer a quick reversal, putting us at a serious disadvantage to our enemies.
