Odds and Ends at the Start of New Year
...with news of heavy rains in California, fires in Oklahoma and Texas, avalanches in France and Germany and even a report of an earthquake deep in the Pacific Ocean.
I see a good report that avian flu may not be on the horizon this year and it seems our health experts are making some progress toward handling a pandemic. Although it looks like emergency rooms in Mesa, Arizona are having a difficult time handling existing cases of "normal" flu.
I think Jay Leno had a point in this reported reference he recently made. With hurricanes, tornadoes, flooding, fires, severe t-storms and earthquakes tearing up the country from one end to another, the quote of the year is: Jay Leno: "Are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?"

Darris McNeely works at the United Church of God home office in Cincinnati, Ohio. He and his wife, Debbie, have served in the ministry for more than 43 years. They have two sons, who are both married, and four grandchildren. Darris is the Associate Media Producer for the Church. He also is a resident faculty member at the Ambassador Bible Center teaching Acts, Fundamentals of Belief and World News and Prophecy.
