The Pope condemns the climate change prophets

In a statement sure to rile environmentalists Pope Benedict XVI has warned against fear mongering on the environmental issue. He says solutions to global environmental conditions must be based on solid science rather than spurious ideology.

The scientific community is still divided on this issue. Yet nations are meeting this week in Bali to discuss global warming. Australia's new Prime Minister has come out in support of a new treaty. Al Gore was finally awarded his Noble prize on Monday for his work in the field.

The Pope's message is part of his year end message to the world. It was released early to coincide with the UN meetings in Bali.
