A Prayer for Obama

2 minutes read time

Karl Rove in this morning’s WSJ talks about what it will be like for the administration the day after the inauguration. I like this quote: “The inauguration is a moment of constitutional significance and important symbolism. Team Obama should enjoy it. As I can attest personally, it won’t last long. By the next day, the realities of governing will intrude.”

And the realities will be long and relentless. Each day brings more news of just how bad things will be for the economy in 2009. The hole just keeps getting deeper.

All the more reason to pray for the president. He is our president and his success is our success. My latest column in WNP offers a reminder of the new president’s first priority. Here is an excerpt:

“…we encourage all our readers to pray for the success of the new president. The apostle Paul encouraged prayers for “kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence” (1 Timothy 2:1-2).

We still have an opportunity and an obligation to preach the gospel of the Kingdom of God and Jesus Christ as a witness to all who will hear.

Join us in prayers for this new president. Join with us in prayer and actions that the gospel can be preached to larger audiences. Join us in this good work at this critical juncture of history. Finally, pray with us “Your kingdom come” for the full restoration of all good things of God to this earth.“
