Beauty Is in Your Eye

1 minute read time

An old saying is that "beauty is in the eye of the beholder."

Everything around us has a measure of beauty when our life is filled with love. We can have love in marriage, in friendship or the kind of love that God emits—that is agape, or a general love and concern for the well-being of others. When our hearts are full of concern for others and we look for opportunities to help those in need, we are most often the greatest beneficiaries.

It is a godly act to see the need of another and to fill that need. Obviously, this does not mean to jump in and do things for everyone, but when there is genuine need, we must take action (1 John 3:17-18). When we are filled with that kind of love, life can be beautiful. Beauty is in our perception—our eyes. For those who have learned this wonderful lesson of living, beauty is everywhere around them. This is God’s love; He is love (1 John 4:8). Showing love as God does, even a little bit, makes everything seem more beautiful.
