The Best Things in Life Aren't Things

1 minute read time

Our world seems to be focused on getting more and more.

Greed and corruption with the will to do anything for wealth seems to be rampant. The grief that this frame of mind causes in the long run is heavy. People gather things they rarely use and that need constant care and repair. We need to guard our riches, and we know that things grow old.

But Jesus Christ knew that the most important things in life are not the things that are physical, though we have need of food, shelter and clothing. The best things are spiritual, for that is the area in which we store treasures that no thief can steal and rust cannot destroy (Matthew 6:19-21). The best things in life are those that focus on an eternal future.
