Confide With Care

1 minute read time

The Bible lets us know that confiding or trusting in an unfaithful man is like a bad tooth or foot out of joint (Proverbs 25:19).

We cannot be betrayed or deceived until we first confide in someone. Further instruction is to be careful about cursing the king or even a rich man because the "bird of the air" may carry those words. When we confide in another, there is an immediate danger that what we say will be carried further. We learn slowly at times, but the lesson to weigh our words carefully saves us from ongoing and repeated pain.

We cannot go through life without sharing some of our innermost thoughts with someone. Usually we choose someone we think we can trust and who is close to us. Even then, we need to confide with care. There is One with whom we can confide with confidence. That is our Creator, our Father and our God. We grow in character by exercising self-control. Discretion and wisdom are attitudes and abilities that we add to and hone over time. When you need to bare your heart, bare it to your Father in heaven in prayer (Proverbs 3:21, Proverbs 3:26).
