Labor and Wait

1 minute read time

We hope this bit of poetry rings a bell for you.

Longfellow wrote: "Let us, then, be up and doing, with a heart for any fate; still achieving, still pursuing, learn to labor and to wait." Paul puts the same thought into his words: "By patient continuance in doing good" (Romans 2:7).

One of the great lessons of life is that we need to sow a crop and then wait for the harvest. Although we often cry out for immediate results, patience is a virtue that can only be learned with the passage of time. The result is the reward of your labor and your waiting.
