No Lack of Words

Take our word for it—clear communication is even more important than a million-word vocabulary!
Sometime before November 2006, the English language probably added its 1 millionth word (The Week, Sept. 8, 2006, page 15). That's 10 times the number of words in French, and it's growing every day, especially on the Internet. If you could say a word every two seconds around the clock, it would still take you more than 23 days to say them all!
Having a good vocabulary is important, but no one knows all those words, slang and specialized jargon. A key to good communication is to use the words we do know clearly, wisely and kindly (Proverbs 12:25; 25:11; and 31:26).
