"Put a Knife to Your Throat"

1 minute read time

William Penn wrote: "Always rise from the table with an appetite, and you will never sit down without one."

The Bible puts it a slightly different way: "Put a knife to your throat if you are a man given to appetite" (Proverbs 23:2). This principle can be applied to many situations, not only eating. Overstaying a visit can cause invitations to become scarce.

Overeating is something that is more obvious than most problems we have. The young of many nations are battling a huge problem that has to do with appetite. There is a great interference in our quality of life when we lack self-control in anything.
