Reason Together
When two people sit down and discuss a subject and each is able to clearly express the reason that they believe as they do - we can call that reasoning.
One person makes a point while the other listens and then the listener makes a point while the talker is quiet. It requires a set of clearly expressed ideas to be exchanged, the ability to speak clearly and the ability to listen carefully. Among humans it is a point of wisdom to have a safe and good atmosphere wherein the most personal thoughts can be expressed without fear of humiliation or some backlash. An element of trust would be necessary.
God inspired some of the most gracious words ever recorded in the Bible when Isaiah 1:18 quoted God saying, "Come now, and let us reason together." What a caring and loving attitude He expressed in these words, that the Creator of the universe and Giver of life to us would be willing to listen as well as talk with us. There is a marvelous lesson in this concept. Parents and adults can use this approach with children to teach them to think and reason clearly. God is all wise and all-knowing. He will not learn from us, but we may learn from Him. Amazing as it is, sometimes people also learn from one another.
