Seasons of the Year

1 minute read time

Experiencing winter makes spring all the more pleasant, just as failure enhances the joy of success.

After the devastation of the flood of Noah's day, God made a promise to mankind and to Himself. He said in His heart, "While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer, and day and night shall not cease" (Genesis 8:22). God appointed the moon for seasons and the sun to move about the heavens (Psalm 104:19). Even the creatures of the earth work according to the seasons of the year (Proverbs 6:8).

The seasons of the year were not given as punishment for mankind. We are to live each season and learn from it. Breathe in the air, taste the fruit and prepare for the winter snow or the summer rain. It is in the acceptance of the seasons that we find some good in each one. Each season has its own special reward to those who look forward with anticipation and are always prepared.
