Spotting a Counterfeit
U.S. Customs agents charged a West Hollywood, California, man with printing 250 counterfeit bills.
These days counterfeiters using high-tech equipment are producing bills that are hard to distinguish from the real thing. But this man's 250 counterfeit bills were not hard to spot. They each bore the denomination "$1 billion" (The Week, March 24, 2006)! (Imagine him saying, "Hey, buddy, got change for a billion?")
If only all counterfeits were so easy to catch! The Bible warns that Satan and his ministers transform themselves to appear to be righteous ministers of Christ (2 Corinthians 11:13-15). So how can we tell which is real and which is counterfeit? Here are a couple of scriptures that can help: Matthew 7:13-23 and Isaiah 8:20.
