Squandering Is a Habit

1 minute read time

Time is the stuff that life is made of—when we squander time, we squander our life (Proverbs 24:33-34).

This does not mean rest and recreation are wrong. In fact, workaholics are those who cannot distinguish between maximizing the use of time and squandering life.

To squander is to use something in a manner that is not productive. Family life, even vacations and going fishing can be productive in the ultimate sense. It is in the true understanding of what brings us nothing that we can know what it is to squander time.

Those who misuse time usually misuse money, friendships, family and themselves. Carelessness in everything can become a habit. “Would have”—“could have”—“should have”—these are all in action when time is misused. Only you can evaluate your life. Once this hour is gone, it will never return.
