Suffering Makes Us Strong

"The strongest oak tree of the forest is not the one that is protected from the storm and hidden from the sun. It's the one that stands in the open where it is compelled to struggle for its existence against the winds and rains and the scorching sun." This thought, attributed to writer Napoleon Hill (1883-1970), still rings true today.
Storms will come in every life, and we must build our house upon the Rock, Jesus Christ, in order to survive. "Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock" (Matthew 7:24-25). Just like the oak tree, we can send out long roots and become strong through Christ and endure any storm.
