Compass Check: Fall 2024

As I write you this note, I am woefully behind in oh, so many things. My house needs painting, my bathroom remodel has come to a screeching halt and I’m about a week late in writing this letter. It was a crazy summer for my family between camp, several weddings and who knows what else. There’s only one word to describe it—busy.

Although I love the summertime, fall is still my favorite season. There are cooler temperatures, football (Who-Dey!) and of course, the fall Holy days. Each day has special meaning, but I think the Feast of Tabernacles is no doubt a high-water mark for most of us during our year. Not only does it represent the coming Kingdom of God, but it also represents a time of rest. Rest from the influence of Satan and rest from the confusion that abounds in our world—something we take a look at in this issue.

And speaking of rest, one of the biggest challenges it creates in our lives is anxiety. This can leave us a little weak—physically, emotionally and spiritually. In this issue, we’ll take a look at a few ways to deal with some of those challenges.

Of course, just as we don’t sit around and do nothing during the Feast, the Kingdom of God is a time when our Lord Jesus Christ will expect us to work. In fact, much of what we do today is training for our future. Our cover article for this issue, “Running with the Horses,” takes a closer look at exactly what is expected of us.

By the time you receive this issue, you will likely only be days away from leaving for the Feast. I pray that you all have a very rewarding physical, emotional and spiritual journey there and back!
