This year’s Feast site is located on the Southern Coast of South Africa in the historical town of Mossel Bay, which is the start on the Cape Town side of what’s known as the “Garden Route”—an area popular with both local and international tourists stretching for about 200km along the east coast to Storms River, and characterized by a beautiful variety of vegetation and scenery.
Housing
Our wish is to have everyone staying within walking distance of the central venue, which is the Diaz Hotel and Resort conference facility, where our daily services will be held. The hotel also has two great restaurants for lunch and dinner.
While there are plenty of self-catering accommodations around the hotel (which can be found on platforms like booking.com), we encourage our international visitors to use the hotel accommodations, with single, double and family options available, as well as self-catering apartments, which are great for small groups, families or those wishing to do some of their own catering and entertaining. The Feast this year falls squarely in our school holidays, and with Mossel Bay being a popular holiday destination, accommodation availability might be a little more limited this year, so get in there early!
Activities
Free time during, before and after the Feast, can be spent relaxing or touring, with exceptional opportunities provided. The website visitmosselbay.co.za gives you more information on many of these activities.
Travel
International visitors can either fly into Cape Town or O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, and then catch a connecting flight to George domestic airport (only 39km, or 24 miles, from the Diaz Hotel) or fly into Cape Town and enjoy a beautifully scenic drive of about five hours to Mossel Bay.
With the proximity of shops and facilities, and the availability of very affordable taxi services, having your own transport is not a necessity. Just be aware though that Uber does not operate in Mossel Bay.
Registration
There is no registration fee for this Feast site, but a donation towards Feast assistance and administration would be greatly appreciated. This can be paid in cash at the Feast.
