Rulership

How Will Jesus Do It?
The Bible reveals that Jesus Christ will return to this earth, and He will bring about a veritable utopia based on love! How will His rulership make it happen?

While the idea of a world government may seem like a modern invention, it has actually been around for thousands of years. It was considered anciently by Babylon and the Egyptians.

Interestingly, one proponent of a world government was Albert Einstein. Many today believe man's only hope for world peace lies in a one-world government exercising power and authority over all nations. But many are afraid such a world would be fraught with fears and would be a miserable existence, much like living in a Nazi police state or the scenario portrayed in George Orwell’s book, 1984. It is imagined it could be a malevolent dictatorship ruled by a beastly figure. In reality, that is prophesied to happen! The Bible reveals that Jesus Christ will return to this earth, and He will bring about a veritable utopia based on love!

How will His rulership make it happen?

Perspective

Jesus prophesied there would be wars and rumors of war in the end time, and that is certainly true in our day. Some are saying the exit of U.S. President Joe Biden from the presidential race has made it more possible that a world war could happen in the Middle East; because some question who is really in charge.

How will Jesus evade war for a thousand years? Contrary to what many Christians might think, Christ is not returning as the lowly Lamb as He came the first time, but as a powerful glorified Kings of kings and Lord of lords to restore God’s government over all the earth (Isaiah 9:6-7). God anciently had given rule of the entire earth to the archangel, Lucifer, who had control over one third of the angels. Christ will restore the government snatched away from the earth when Lucifer rebelled in an attempted coup to overthrow the throne of God as ruler of the entire vast universe (Isaiah 14:12-14). Lucifer became twisted and dark. God subsequently changed the name of Lucifer, which meant light bringer, to Satan, His adversary.

Jesus will return to a hostile world

When Jesus comes again, He will return to a world wholly deceived by Satan. He will return to find the inhabitants so hostile to God, they will refuse to accept Christ's authority (Revelation 11:15, 18). Therefore, Jesus Christ will have to powerfully subdue and force mankind in the beginning to submit to His rule (Revelation 12:9, 2 Corinthians 4:4, Romans 8:7). He will have to use a "rod of iron" and rule with absolute power (Revelation 2:27; 19:15-16).

Human beings don’t know how to rule their own lives—most were never taught. They don’t know how to be happy. In the beginning human beings will have to be taught how to be happy; eventually they will begin to see the fruit of living by the laws of God. God’s way always produces results, and it is always better than most can even imagine. Isaiah 30:20-21 gives us a glimpse into the Millennium: “And though the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet your teachers will not be moved into a corner anymore, but your eyes shall see your teachers. Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way, walk in it,’ whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left.”

God’s laws will become universal and everyone will be learning to live by His way. Everyone will be taught to worship the true God, to be honest, to not lie or steal, and all will be taught to keep the Sabbath and the annual Holy Days. God’s law will be a way of life. It will be a wonderful world! God’s will, will be done on earth as it is in heaven. There will be no need for locks to protect your possessions or to be safe. There will be peace and safety—no violence, war or harm will come to anyone anywhere. The entire world will have to be reeducated. The first year or two some will not keep the Feast of Tabernacles. Zechariah 14:16-19 outlines how Jesus will teach the nations to look to God for blessings and obey.

The noise of politics goes on all the time around us. When one election ends, another begins. Most don’t realize how much money is spent on elections. Political campaigns in the United States of America have collected around $8.6 billion to elect the house, senate and President for 2024. No such thing will exist in Jesus' world tomorrow. God will select those who rule during the Millennium. Gone will be the fierce backbiting we see during political campaigns at nearly every election. Gone will be the false promises made by crooked politicians.

It is a sad fact but true, Jesus Christ would not be elected to any office in our world today—He is too righteous. He would not want to occupy an office of man anyway. He told Pilate, “My kingdom is not of this world.” However, God will soon send Him to change all the governments of this world. No one will be elected.

God’s Divine family will rule over the earth

The Bible says the government won’t be left to other people; the family of God will rule (Daniel 2:44)! Those called now will assist Jesus Christ in establishing His great Kingdom, which will never pass away (Daniel 7:14, 18). The Church—the saints—will become glorified beings and join the God Family at the first resurrection. They will begin rule as kings and priests when they are changed to spirit at the better resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:52-54; Hebrews 11:35; Revelation 20:5-6).

In the United States government there are three separate branches—the executive, legislative and judicial. Additionally, there is a fourth branch of education which is overseen by the government. In God’s Kingdom, Jesus will set up His government in Jerusalem within which all of these functions will be united. God will provide His laws (the legislative function). The God Family will help enforce the laws (the executive function). It will also interpret those laws and judge cases concerning them (the judicial function). And the God Family will be responsible for education—which will always be taught based on God's law. His way will lead to peace, prosperity and happiness for everyone.

The Church of God is training future kings and priests who will rule with Christ for a thousand years, and they will take the law of God to all peoples (Revelation 1:6, 5:10, 20:6). “For out of Zion the law shall go forth, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem” (Micah 4:2).

Each king will be of the Divine Family, and they will rule and serve God’s subjects using genuine love and outgoing concern (1 John 4:16). The entire world will be taught the way of give and love, and not the way of hatred Satan has instilled in mankind.

When Jesus Christ returns, it will be a time of healing for the whole earth: “But to you who fear My name The Sun of Righteousness shall arise with healing in His wings; and you shall go out and grow fat like stall-fed calves” (Malachi 4:2).

Adam Clarke Commentary gives us some insight on this verse: “As the sun, by the rays of light and heat, revives, cheers, and fructifies the whole creation, giving, through God, light and life everywhere; so Jesus Christ, by the influences of his grace and Spirit, shall quicken, awaken, enlighten, warm, invigorate heal, purify, and refine every soul that believes in him, and, by his wings or rays, diffuse these blessings… everywhere invigorating the seeds of righteousness, and withering and drying up the seeds of sin. The rays of this Sun are the truths of his Gospel, and the influences of his Spirit.”

In that time all those who honor and fear God will be full of life, strong and healthy, and fully satisfied and happy like a stall-fed calf taken care of by his master. Jesus will show all the world that God’s ways always work!
