Candied Orange Slice Bars

Ingredients

4 eggs
2 cups brown sugar
1 tablespoon water
1⁄4 teaspoon salt
1⁄2 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups flour
1⁄4 cup nuts (chopped)
8 ounces candied orange slices (chopped)
1 1⁄2 cups confectioners' sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
4 tablespoons butter (melted)

Instructions

Beat eggs well; add sugar and blend. Stir in water, salt and vanilla. Fold in 1 cup of flour. With remaining flour, coat nuts and orange pieces and fold into mixture. Pour into greased 9x13-inch pan lined with waxed paper. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Turn out on board; peel off paper. Allow to cool and ice. Cut into bars.

Notes

Icing: Mix together confectioner's sugar, juice and butter until smooth.
