Anniversaries
Al and Vicki Scheck
Vicki and Al Scheck celebrated 50 years of marriage on March 7, 2026. In keeping with the “eat dessert first” philosophy, they commemorated their 50th year of marriage by taking some special trips in 2025. But the most joyous celebration came when the UCG Tulsa congregation honored them with a beautiful cake-and-punch anniversary reception after services.
Vicki started attending the Radio Church of God with her mother and siblings in Nashville, Tennessee in 1965. Al’s first Sabbath attendance was as an AC student in 1970. (He had read a lot of literature and knew most of the doctrines, but hadn't attended services before that.)
Both Al and Vicki went on to attend Ambassador College, Pasadena—and graduated in the class of 1973. Dr. Herman Hoeh performed their wedding in the grand lobby of Ambassador Auditorium and then loaned them his credit card as a wedding gift!
Over the years, the Schecks both held positions of employment for the Church and college. Vicki served as the executive assistant to Ronald Dart and, subsequently, Roderick Meredith, each of whom was over pastoral/Church administration at the time. Al’s final position was as purchasing manager for the Church until his resignation in 1995.
A new job took the Scheck family to Long Island, New York, where Al was ordained a deacon on the Feast of Trumpets in 2000. After 10 years on the East Coast, they returned to the Pasadena, California area and then started a travel business that continues to keep them busy.
Three years ago, the couple moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma in order to be closer to daughter Ashley Newman in Kansas, and Vicki’s sister Debbie Wood in Texas.
