2024 Feast of Tabernacles: Penang, Malaysia

The Shangri-La Resort, situated on the water’s edge at Batu Ferringhi Beach, was an ideal location for 55 brethren from around the world to gather together on-site and keep the Feast of Tabernacles.
There was much anticipation for the Feast site in Southeast Asia this year with a new venue secured on the island of Penang, Malaysia. The Shangri-La Resort, situated on the water’s edge at Batu Ferringhi Beach, was blessed with beautiful views of Ferringhi Bay in front of peaceful, lush green vegetation. It was an ideal location for 55 brethren from around the world to gather together on-site and keep the Feast of Tabernacles. The resort boasts a large expanse of lawn, palm and shade trees, absolute beach frontage, lagoon-type swimming pools and delicious cuisines from four on-site restaurants. A particular pleasure was enjoying the western and Asian cuisine buffet breakfast each morning with brethren who had traveled from Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, United States, Canada, Netherlands and Australia.
The six-course welcome dinner following the first Holy Day provided an excellent way for everyone to come together and break the ice; similarly, the buffet lunch on the last Holy Day a wonderful way to share a last meal together and say final goodbyes.
Members organized many activities, including a visit to historic George Town, the famous Monkey Island, and to Entopia butterfly farm which boasts more than 15,000 butterflies. The youth activity at Adventure Zone saw parents and their children sharing thrills and spills as they raced each other down exciting drop slides. Street food stalls and a wide range of restaurants and busy night markets with many across the street or within walking distance of the Feast venue facilitated more opportunities for brethren to share meals and inspiring conversation.
Thought-provoking messages focused on our role as leaders and teachers in the Kingdom, helping and loving others in a future that is pictured by abundance and truly seeing the greatness of God. We were reminded to rejoice and be happy in the knowledge we have of God’s awesome plan for mankind.
Our Southeast Asian brethren appreciate all who came to Penang to support them. Some are totally isolated all year, unable to travel to another country themselves, and are glad for the opportunity to celebrate the Feast and meet other like-minded brethren. Their faith and trust in God is an inspiration to all who talk with them. God truly blessed us with an inspiring and encouraging Feast of Tabernacles.
