Ephesians Part 15
Paul closes Chapter 3 with eternal praise: “To Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” God is glorified through His Church, the Body of Christ, as His Spirit works in His people across every age.
Paul’s prayer reaches its emotional height in verses 18-19 when he asks that we might “comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height [of God’s love, and] to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge.” The love of Christ is beyond measure—wider than the universe, deeper than the grave, higher than the heavens. It surpasses knowledge because it is not something merely understood by intellect; it is experienced through our relationship with Him. Perfect (mature) love, John says, casts out fear. It brings peace, trust and unity with God. It removes the barriers of guilt and shame, replacing them with the assurance of belonging to our Father.
This is why understanding God’s love changes everything in the life of a believer and disciple of Christ. Many people today struggle to comprehend what a loving father is, because Satan works tirelessly to destroy that relationship and to distort the image of fatherhood. But God reveals Himself as the perfect Father, one who heals and restores. As we grow in grace and knowledge, we come to realize just how magnificent His love truly is. Romans 5 reminds us that Christ died for us while we were still sinners and before we ever loved Him in return. His love is unwavering and unconditional.
Paul concludes this powerful section in Ephesians 3 with a doxology—a declaration of praise:
“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.”
God’s ability goes beyond human imagination. Like a child cannot grasp the thoughts of an adult, so we cannot fully comprehend the scope of what God is working out. As Isaiah 55:8–9 declares,
“So are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.”
The same power that raised Christ from the dead is the power now working within us and shaping us into His image, preparing us to share in His glory.
Paul closes Ephesians 3 with eternal praise:
“To Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”
God is glorified through His Church, the Body of Christ, as His Spirit works in His people across every age. As Jesus said in Matthew 5:16,
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Ultimately, all of creation will reflect that glory. As Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 15:28, when all things are made subject to Christ, then the Son Himself will be subject to the Father “that God may be all in all.”
This is the destiny of God’s great family: to be filled with the fullness of God, to share in His divine nature, and to live eternally in His love. There is nothing, no tribulation, nor distress, nor persecution, nor death, nor life, nor any created thing that can separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:35). This is our great calling: to be strengthened by His Spirit, rooted in His love, growing in His grace, and reflecting His glory forever.
